Gays Can Now Marry Fairy-Tale-Style in Disneyland
Walt Disney Co. has announced it will allow gay couples to participate in its popular Fairy Tale Wedding program.
"We are updating our Fairy Tale Wedding guidelines to include commitment ceremonies," Disney Parks and Resorts spokesman Donn Walker said. "This is consistent with our policy of creating a welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment for all of our guests."
"We believe our guests will understand that we're not making judgments about people," he said. "We're recognizing the diversity that already exists among our guests."
Previously, gay couples could organize their own weddings or commitment ceremonies at rented meeting rooms at Disneyland resorts, but were barred from purchasing the Fairy Tale Wedding package and holding the event at locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World that are set aside specifically for weddings.
